There are currently paraprofessional openings at BRHS, BRIJHS and BRSE, as well as sub paraprofessional openings throughout the district. I'd like to offer a follow-up clarification regarding the GPA/val-sal conversation as it relates to the timing of the changes. We do not see this impacting many (if any) of our current students. Part of the discussion would involve the kinds of changes that might be considered and when those changes might go into effect. When other districts have done these things, the final phase is often 4-5 years down the road. That being said, any and all voices are welcome. We want everyone who is interested to be a part of the conversation. Please reach out to Mr. Easter or Ms. Hieronymus if you have questions.

Blue Ridge High School is evaluating the current system of grading scales and commencement-based honors and recognition at Blue Ridge High School. This includes procedures surrounding GPA point values and scales, class rank, weighted courses, Valedictorian and Salutatorian recognition, a potential graduate-with-honors distinction, and commencement ceremony procedures, including student speeches and/or performances. We are determining what current procedures are aligned with our overarching district and building goals and that we want to keep, and what needs to be changed. We also will plan the timeline and action to make those changes. We are seeking input from parents and students about these potential changes to our procedures. If you would like to be involved in sharing your thoughts about these policies and procedures, please let Mr. Easter (beaster@blueridge18.org) or Ms. Hieronymus (lhieronymus@blueridge18.org) know. We will be having a discussion of these issues on Wednesday, November 15th at 6 pm, prior to the school board meeting. More information will be shared at that time.

BRHS Parents, I would like to make a second request for you to fill out a quick form to share your student's cell phone number and carrier. For those who responded prior to the recent intruder drill, we were able to push out to those students the link to the Emergency Check In Form. In a true emergency, if high school students evacuated and were separated from school personnel, this emergency form would allow us to know their location. This is an additional safety measure that we've added to our response plan. No cell phone numbers will be used other than in safety drills or during an emergency. Please read the full letter here:https://5il.co/27j2q. The link for the cell phone form is also included in the letter or can be found here: https://forms.gle/ogFK5jH5UY3jXLg46. Thank you! #br_u_knighted
