There will be a bass fishing meeting with coach Williamson on Tuesday, Feb. 21st at lunch for anyone that is interested. If you are wanting to be certified for lifeguarding or need re-certification to be a lifeguard, please call the City of Farmer City office for more information at 928-3412.
The Band Talent Show will be held on Friday, February 17th at the high school. Come and see all of the talent we have in the community and have some fun! Come early for the dinner and stay for the show! The tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling the high school office!
Last night 12 of our FFA Members competed in the Section 16 Proficiency Awards with their record books kept over their different ag-related activities in 16 different areas. Those that competed include 3 8th grade members with the 9 high schoolers being Lillian Enger in Specialty Crop (1st overall) and Vegetable Production (3rd overall), Kaleb Southern in Equine Science Placement (1st overall), Gracie Shaffer in Diversified Crop Entrepreneurship (2nd overall) and Fiber and Oil Crop Production (1st overall), Gavin Friel in Diversified Ag Production (2nd overall) and Forage Production (2nd overall), Kaydance Wooton in Goat Production, Brenna Friel in Food Service (2nd place), Lori Weiss in Fruit Production (2nd overall), Sydney Rausch in Outdoor Recreation (1st overall), and Indra Nolan in Poultry Production (3rd overall). Students Advancing to Districts in March include Lillian Enger, Gracie Shaffer, Sydney Rausch, Kaleb Southern, and the 3 8th grade members that competed. Congratulations to all of our FFA members.
Next week is National FFA Week where we celebrate and educate about the National FFA Organization. There will be Trivia each morning during announcements and different activities and dress-up days throughout the week for ALL high schoolers to participate in.
Monday there is no school but FFA members are invited to come in and help decorate and organize materials for the week from 1-4.
Tuesday is Anything But a Backpack day along with the Pep Assembly. All non-backpacks must be able to easily get up and down the stairs, must not cause distractions in class, and be school appropriate.
Those planning on bringing items into Anything But A Backpack Day - Remember that you are setting the precedence of if we can do this again in the future. Be smart with what you are bringing and remember it cannot be a distraction, cannot be in the way in classrooms, and needs be easily handled so you are not late to class. Anyone wanting to participate in the pep assembly needs to see an FFA Officer to sign up. Tuesday is also our FFA Lunch- All FFA members need to be signed up in the Ag Room by Thursday the 16th.
Wednesday is Country vs Country Club day with the FFA Officers going to the Jr High for 8th-grade workshops.
Thursday: Dress up is College and Career with the College and Career Fair going on in the Gym from 9 am-1 pm. There is a wide range of Colleges and Careers and all are welcome to attend. New this year, in order to come to the FFA Barnyard on Friday students coming not part of a class will need a pass that they can only receive from attending the College and Career Fair.
Friday Blue and Gold Day and the FFA Barnyard. Teachers will get a chance to bring students to the barnyard as a class, any student wanting to come down during study hall will need to have a pass from attending the College and Career Fair.
