The March Athletes of the Month are:

Baseball-Gus Schubert-"The kid gives 110% every play. He has never played baseball before and I have seen him get hit by 100 baseballs already this season, and the kid just keeps going after his goal".

Softball-Ellie Schlieper -  Ellie has been a huge asset both on and off the field.  She has assisted teammates with their studies and helping them be academically accountable as well as helping the newer teammates develop the fundamental skills of softball.  She has a great spirit, has shown tremendous growth physically and mentally since last year and has had solid pitching performances in both games this season.  All around solid athlete for the program!

Boys Track-Austin Wike.  Austin, who is new to track and field, took on the first meet of the season with a smile on his face.  He had no experience in any of the events he participated in but still performed well with no complaints.  Austin understands the importance of effort, attitude and being a team player.

Girls Track- Alexis Wike.  Lexi has been the standard of excellence for the Blue Ridge girls track and field team these past three years.  Alexis works hard at her craft not only in practices but club practices and meets as well.  Alexis leads our team in total points and excels at the HJ and sprints.  Lexi teaches younger girls helpful tips on starts and handoffs.

Boys track participated in their first meet of the season Wednesday managing 75 points with only 4 athletes.  We ended the day with 6 first place finishes including a blazing fast 100m dash from Cole Pemble at 11.5 seconds and a impressive 400m dash by Matt Schumacher at 56.2 seconds!  Boys track will be in action again at ALAH on Tuesday. Let's go Knights!

Lady Knights nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over Cerro Gordo/Bement on Monday for Senior Night.   The Lady Knights trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ellie Schleiper singled on a 1-0 count, scoring 2 runs.  Ellie Schleiper got the win. The ace went seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking one.  Alexis Wike and Cassie Zimmerman each collected multiple hits.  Lexi Wike went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Cassie Zimmerman went 2-3 with a walk, double and triple tallying 2 RBIs.

Tonight both Boys and Girls Track are at ALAH at 4pm with the bus leaving at 2:25.  Track students should be dismissed at 2:10.
